The NYSCP school’s DSL network session is a termly free webinar which features the latest information on best practice, changes to legislation and guidance, as well as local, regional and national learning.
The network provides an opportunity for Designated Safeguarding Leads across North Yorkshire to come together to receive key updates, strengthen safeguarding practice, and support effective multi-agency working.
This session will include updates from the NYSCP Business Unit, alongside inputs from partner agencies on emerging safeguarding themes relevant to education settings.

Sharing insights into youth vaping and its safeguarding implications, including current local work and how schools can respond through prevention and policy approaches. - Simone Wilkinson (North Yorkshire Council)
Leading a session on supporting young carers in schools, bringing professionals together to develop a shared understanding and strengthen partnership working. Supported by two guest speakers, the session will focus on building confidence in identifying young carers, understanding the challenges they face, and providing practical guidance on how to respond. It will also highlight local support pathways and opportunities to connect with partners and share good practice. - Jeanette Hague (NSPCC)
Overview of NSPCC Schools Service programmes, supporting DSLs to strengthen preventative safeguarding through education on abuse, healthy relationships, and pupil voice.
