NYSCP Developments in Safeguarding Learning Session – Counter Terrorism Local Profile

The North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (NYSCP) is pleased to invite practitioners to our next Developments in Safeguarding online learning session, taking place on Wednesday 3 June 2026 from 12:00 to 13:00.

These monthly lunchtime webinars are a key part of the NYSCP learning offer, designed to keep professionals up to date with current safeguarding practice, changes in legislation and guidance, and learning from local, regional and national activity.

Focus for June: Counter Terrorism Local Profile

This session will focus on the Counter Terrorism Local Profile, providing an overview of the current landscape, emerging themes, and what this means for safeguarding practice across North Yorkshire.

In light of the current increase in the national threat level and ongoing concerns relating to extremism, it is vital that practitioners remain informed, vigilant and confident in recognising and responding to potential risks. This session will support professionals to better understand these issues within a local context and consider how safeguarding responsibilities align with wider counter-terrorism activity.

Who should attend?

This session is open to anyone working or volunteering with children, young people and their families across North Yorkshire, including colleagues from:

  • Education
  • Health
  • Police
  • Social care
  • Voluntary and community sector organisations

What will you gain?

By attending, delegates will:

  • Enhance their knowledge of safeguarding risks linked to extremism and counter-terrorism
  • Understand current developments, guidance and practice considerations
  • Gain insight into local learning and implications for multi-agency safeguarding responses

Important information

Please note that this session will not be recorded.
This means that attendance on the day is required to access the learning and key messages.

Booking your place

This session is free to attend and can be booked via NYES.

👉 We strongly encourage practitioners and managers to prioritise attendance and share this opportunity across their teams to ensure the partnership remains informed and responsive to emerging safeguarding risks.
