Book Your Place: NYSCP Developments in Safeguarding Learning Sessions – September 2026
The North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (NYSCP) is pleased to be offering two Developments in Safeguarding online learning sessions during September. These free webinars provide an opportunity for practitioners across all agencies to learn from local safeguarding activity, reflect on practice and strengthen multi-agency responses to support children and families.
Session 1: Exploitation Learning and Domestic Abuse Practice – Wednesday 9 September, 12-1pm
The first session will bring together learning from the recent Exploitation Multi-Agency Audit and a child safeguarding review, highlighting key messages for practitioners working with children and young people who may be vulnerable to exploitation.
The session will also explore learning relating to the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS), with contributions from partner agencies. North Yorkshire Probation Service will discuss safeguarding considerations when offenders reach the end of their sentence, while North Yorkshire Police will provide insight into DVDS processes and learning linked to Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC).
The session aims to support practitioners in recognising risk, understanding the role of partner agencies and strengthening multi-agency safeguarding responses.
Session 2: Learning from Safeguarding Practice Reviews – Wednesday 16 September, 12-1pm
The second session focuses on learning from a number of recent Safeguarding Practice Review cases. Through these cases, practitioners will explore several significant themes including:
- Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII)
- Non-accidental injuries
- The importance of skeletal surveys in safeguarding children
Who Should Attend?
These sessions are suitable for practitioners, managers, safeguarding leads and anyone working with children, young people and families across North Yorkshire’s safeguarding partnership.
