Join Our Team: MACE and Contextual Safeguarding Officer

North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (NYSCP) is seeking a skilled and passionate professional to join our team as a MACE and Contextual Safeguarding Officer.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in strengthening our multi-agency response to child exploitation and extra-familial harm, helping to improve outcomes for children and young people across North Yorkshire.

About NYSCP

NYSCP brings together senior leaders from the local authority, police, health and wider partners to ensure that children and young people in North Yorkshire are safeguarded and their welfare is promoted.

We are a strong, ambitious partnership with a clear focus on improving outcomes through effective multi-agency working, constructive challenge and a shared commitment to learning and improvement. Our work is guided by the Being Young in North Yorkshire Strategy 2025–28 and our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Arrangements (MASA), which underpin how we respond to risks such as child exploitation and contextual harm.

About the Role

This fixed-term role (until 11 May 2027) offers an exciting opportunity to operate at the interface of strategy and practice within a high-performing safeguarding system.

Salary: £42,839 – £47,181 (Grade L)
Hours: 37 per week
Location: Northallerton (with hybrid working available)

As the MACE and Contextual Safeguarding Officer, you will lead and coordinate critical partnership activity, including chairing MACE Level 2 meetings and the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) Panel.

You will ensure that multi-agency plans to address child exploitation, modern slavery and wider contextual safeguarding concerns are robust, timely and effective—supporting a coordinated system response to reduce harm outside the home.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Chair and coordinate MACE Level 2 and NRM Panel meetings, ensuring effective multi-agency participation and decision-making
  • Monitor the effectiveness of plans to reduce risks linked to child exploitation and extra-familial harm
  • Provide independent scrutiny and constructive challenge to ensure safeguarding plans are SMART and outcome-focused
  • Lead quality assurance activity, including audits and reviews, to inform partnership improvement
  • Deliver advice, guidance and training to support workforce development across the partnership
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across statutory and non-statutory partners
  • Ensure the voices and lived experiences of children, young people and families inform decision-making
  • Produce high-quality analytical reports to support strategic oversight and assurance

About You

We are looking for someone who is committed to safeguarding children and improving outcomes through effective partnership working.

You will bring:

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding practice, child exploitation and contextual safeguarding
  • Experience working within multi-agency environments, including chairing professional meetings
  • The confidence to provide constructive challenge and hold partners to account
  • The ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear insights and actions
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and amplifying children’s voices

You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, and comfortable working within a complex and evolving system.

Why Join Us?

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Work at the forefront of contextual safeguarding and child exploitation
  • Influence both strategic direction and operational practice across the partnership
  • Play a key role in strengthening quality assurance and driving improvement
  • Be part of a supportive, ambitious and forward-thinking safeguarding partnership
