Resources for Community Groups
At North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership we believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and communities and local places and spaces hold a vital role in keeping children and young people safe in North Yorkshire. On this page, we hope you will find useful resources, which are specifically aimed for colleagues within the Voluntary and Community Sector. If you feel there is any information missing on this page, or if you have any questions about the work of the partnership you can contact the partnership via email: nyscp@northyorks.gov.uk
VCS Checklist
This checklist and resources guide has been produced to support colleagues in the voluntary and community sector and can also be used by smaller organisations, working with children and adults to help organisations to identify what safeguarding arrangements they should have in place.
National Youth Agency Resources
The National Youth Agency (NYA) has a safeguarding and risk management hub which contains generic guidance to ensure your policies and processes are up to date. The Hub provides guidance, support, advice and access to training resources for all organisations and individuals working with young people – whether you’re a volunteer, a trustee, a youth worker or an organisational lead. This can be accessed here.
The NYA in collaboration with other national partners have put together the following documents for Voluntary and Community Sector groups.
– Guidance for working with communities following traumatic incidents
– Guidance to addressing unrest, disinformation and violence
– Speak Out toolkit, a useful resource to stimulate discussion, thought and reflection around key themes such as identity, belonging and diversity.
– Physical security in youth work settings guidance

Safeguarding in the Faith Sector
National Working Group (NWG) have produced a series of resources for the faith sector to help individuals within these communities – whether parents, community members, faith leaders or volunteers, to understand how to recognise signs of abuse and respond effectively to concerns. The video can be accessed by clicking on the image below.
The campaign is deliberately inclusive and neutral, with no reference to any particular faith, ethnicity, culture, race, or gender. By using animation and abstract shapes, NWG aim to keep the story at the forefront, ensuring that the message remains universal and relevant to all.
A Faith Toolkit Guide has also been produced to support the video: CSE Faith Support – STOP CE –
