The Children’s Society – Financial Exploitation Report Launch
Financial Exploitation
Moving Money Launch
The Children’s Society’s National Prevention Programme is proud to publish the UK’s first research report dedicated to child financial exploitation and exploitative money laundering, launched alongside a powerful youth voice report which presents young people’s own views on financial exploitation.
The Children’s Society has also been given crucial figures from UK-leading fraud prevention service, Cifas, giving us an insight into the scale of the issue for the first time. The figures show that 6,434 under 21s were identified as being exploited to launder money through their bank accounts in 2024 and 993 of those young people were aged between 14 – 17.
Every child deserves protection from exploitation and we all have a part to play. By reading and sharing these pioneering reports, you can help raise awareness and ensure that children and young people receive the support they need, exactly when they need it most.
