Have Your Say on Community Safety Across York and North Yorkshire

Residents, workers and communities across York and North Yorkshire are being encouraged to share their views and experiences by taking part in the 2026 Serious Violence Survey.

The survey, led by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, aims to better understand people’s experiences of safety within their communities. The findings will help shape future work to prevent violence, improve community safety, and ensure services respond to the issues that matter most to local people.

The confidential survey takes just a few minutes to complete and covers a range of important topics, including:

  • Serious violence
  • Community safety
  • Online safety
  • Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)

By taking part, residents can help provide valuable insight into the challenges facing local communities and contribute to the development of initiatives designed to make York and North Yorkshire safer places to live, work and visit.

Community voices play a crucial role in understanding local concerns, identifying emerging issues, and ensuring that prevention and support efforts are informed by real experiences.

The survey closes at 11pm on Sunday 27 September 2026.

We encourage partners to share this opportunity with colleagues, families, service users and communities to maximise participation and help ensure a broad range of voices are heard.
