Child Exploitation Awareness Day 2025

Child Exploitation Awareness Day 2025

North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership are proud to support the National Working Group Child Exploitation Awareness Day (CEADay25) campaign on 18th March 2025.

CHILD EXPLOITATION IS A FORM OF ABUSE THAT INVOLVES THE MANIPULATION AND/OR COERCION OF YOUNG PEOPLE UNDER THE AGE OF 18.

On 18th March 2025, we want to highlight the issues surrounding Child exploitation in Communities; for 2025, we are encouraging everyone to think, spot, and speak out against abuse and adopt a zero-tolerance approach to child exploitation.

Together, we can work to inform, educate, and prevent child abuse within the UK.

North Yorkshire Child Exploitation Summit 2025

18th June 2025 – Harrogate Convention Centre

Following the successful multi-agency child Exploitation development events held across North Yorkshire in 2023 and 2024, North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and North Yorkshire Community Safety Partnership are proud to announce the first North Yorkshire Child Exploitation Summit.

Focusing on all forms of child exploitation as detailed in the Multi Agency Child Exploitation (MACE) and Contextual Safeguarding Strategy, this FREE summit will be an opportunity for partners from across North Yorkshire to come together to look at how we can work together to tackle exploitation and serious youth violence. The day will focus on exploring local and national trends of child exploitation and serious youth violence, examining partnerships working together to disrupt the abuse that is happening to children and the role we all must play in this in the places and spaces young people are spending their time (including the online world).

With various enlightening and empowering keynote speakers and workshops throughout the day, the summit will prove to be an incredible occasion to come together as North Yorkshire Partners to tackle exploitation and serious youth violence.

Audience:  We welcome frontline practitioners to attend from across all agencies who work in North Yorkshire with young people (ages 8 and above) and their families.

There is an expectation that attendees will have a basic understanding of Child Exploitation and the Multi-Agency Child Exploitation processes in North Yorkshire, which can be accessed by reading the following practice guidance NYSCP.  A short “Introduction to Child Exploitation in North Yorkshire” will also be made available to attendees to watch before attending the summit.

Booking Details will be made available via the NYES website on 18th March 2025.

Children and young people can’t consent to exploitation. Don’t blame or judge, but recognize it as abuse

The earlier we share our concerns, the greater and more realistic the opportunities are to free children from Child Exploitation. If you are worried about a child or something that is happening in your community, speak up. NYSCP
